بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
- إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
When the Occurrence occurs,
56:1 - لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
56:2 - خَافِضَةࣱ رَّافِعَةٌ
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].
56:3 - إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجࣰّا
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
56:4 - وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسࣰّا
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling
56:5 - فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءࣰ مُّنۢبَثࣰّا
And become dust dispersing.
56:6 - وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجࣰا ثَلَـٰثَةࣰ
And you become [of] three kinds:
56:7 - فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?
56:8 - وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?
56:9 - وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ
And the forerunners, the forerunners -
56:10 - أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]
56:11 - فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
In the Gardens of Pleasure,
56:12 - ثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
A [large] company of the former peoples
56:13 - وَقَلِيلࣱ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
And a few of the later peoples,
56:14 - عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مَّوْضُونَةࣲ
On thrones woven [with ornament],
56:15 - مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
Reclining on them, facing each other.
56:16 - يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنࣱ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal
56:17 - بِأَكْوَابࣲ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسࣲ مِّن مَّعِينࣲ
With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -
56:18 - لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -
56:19 - وَفَـٰكِهَةࣲ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
And fruit of what they select
56:20 - وَلَحْمِ طَيْرࣲ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.
56:21 - وَحُورٌ عِينࣱ
And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,
56:22 - كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
The likenesses of pearls well-protected,
56:23 - جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
As reward for what they used to do.
56:24 - لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوࣰا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا
They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -
56:25 - إِلَّا قِيلࣰا سَلَـٰمࣰا سَلَـٰمࣰا
Only a saying: "Peace, peace."
56:26 - وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ
The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?
56:27 - فِى سِدْرࣲ مَّخْضُودࣲ
[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed
56:28 - وَطَلْحࣲ مَّنضُودࣲ
And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]
56:29 - وَظِلࣲّ مَّمْدُودࣲ
And shade extended
56:30 - وَمَآءࣲ مَّسْكُوبࣲ
And water poured out
56:31 - وَفَـٰكِهَةࣲ كَثِيرَةࣲ
And fruit, abundant [and varied],
56:32 - لَّا مَقْطُوعَةࣲ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةࣲ
Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,
56:33 - وَفُرُشࣲ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
And [upon] beds raised high.
56:34 - إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءࣰ
Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation
56:35 - فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
And made them virgins,
56:36 - عُرُبًا أَتْرَابࣰا
Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,
56:37 - لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
For the companions of the right [who are]
56:38 - ثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
A company of the former peoples
56:39 - وَثُلَّةࣱ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
And a company of the later peoples.
56:40 - وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?
56:41 - فِى سَمُومࣲ وَحَمِيمࣲ
[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water
56:42 - وَظِلࣲّ مِّن يَحْمُومࣲ
And a shade of black smoke,
56:43 - لَّا بَارِدࣲ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
Neither cool nor beneficial.
56:44 - إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,
56:45 - وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
And they used to persist in the great violation,
56:46 - وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
56:47 - أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
And our forefathers [as well]?"
56:48 - قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples
56:49 - لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمࣲ مَّعْلُومࣲ
Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."
56:50 - ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,
56:51 - لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرࣲ مِّن زَقُّومࣲ
Will be eating from trees of zaqqum
56:52 - فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
And filling with it your bellies
56:53 - فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
And drinking on top of it from scalding water
56:54 - فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ
And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.
56:55 - هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.
56:56 - نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
We have created you, so why do you not believe?
56:57 - أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ
Have you seen that which you emit?
56:58 - ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?
56:59 - نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone
56:60 - عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.
56:61 - وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?
56:62 - أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ
And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?
56:63 - ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?
56:64 - لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمࣰا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,
56:65 - إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ
[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;
56:66 - بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
Rather, we have been deprived."
56:67 - أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ
And have you seen the water that you drink?
56:68 - ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?
56:69 - لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجࣰا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ
If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?
56:70 - أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ
And have you seen the fire that you ignite?
56:71 - ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?
56:72 - نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةࣰ وَمَتَـٰعࣰا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,
56:73 - فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
56:74 - ۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
Then I swear by the setting of the stars,
56:75 - وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمࣱ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.
56:76 - إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانࣱ كَرِيمࣱ
Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an
56:77 - فِى كِتَـٰبࣲ مَّكْنُونࣲ
In a Register well-protected;
56:78 - لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
None touch it except the purified.
56:79 - تَنزِيلࣱ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
56:80 - أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ
Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent
56:81 - وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?
56:82 - فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat
56:83 - وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذࣲ تَنظُرُونَ
And you are at that time looking on -
56:84 - وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ
And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -
56:85 - فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ
Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,
56:86 - تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
Bring it back, if you should be truthful?
56:87 - فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah,
56:88 - فَرَوْحࣱ وَرَيْحَانࣱ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمࣲ
Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.
56:89 - وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
And if he was of the companions of the right,
56:90 - فَسَلَـٰمࣱ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."
56:91 - وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,
56:92 - فَنُزُلࣱ مِّنْ حَمِيمࣲ
Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water
56:93 - وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
And burning in Hellfire
56:94 - إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
Indeed, this is the true certainty,
56:95 - فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
56:96
